Precise has gone back to a traditional method of training our own people in house. With the skills gap and the lack of trade workers looming over our heads we had to find a way to guarantee skilled machinists ready to hire on a constant basis.
This is why PCMI was created, in 2012, Precise recognized the need for skilled machinists, and decided to begin training highly motivated students within their own facilities. A small workshop and classroom was created under the very same roof. The Precise CNC Machining Institute was born. Mark Sickles, 25+ year Machinist\Engineer was asked to lead and develop new candidates, and was named PCMI Instructor. PCMI provides excepted candidates the ability to learn machining, starting from the very basics, and get paid doing it. This coming from a company who’s been successful at it for almost 40 years. Our goal at PCMI is to train students for a lifelong career in the CNC Machining trade.
Our objective was and is to prepare students for employment as entry level CNC Machinists. The training program will focus on developing skills in the safe operation of machine tools such as lathes, mills, grinders, drill presses with an emphasis on CNC mills and CNC lathes. Overall quality techniques will be covered as well as proficient use of precision measuring tools and interpreting industrial drawings. The program is 700 hours of instruction with over 400 hours of hands-on training in machine shop skills.
Students will learn the fundamentals of machining and tooling necessary to begin a career in manufacturing. As Machinists they will be able to improve their skill sets to become more marketable in a competitive industry. Students will use cutting edge software and simulators enabling you to design and produce parts for any production job.
